Hello and welcome to my newest website. I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. I was always getting into trouble in elementary school for doodling and drawing while the teachers were blathering on about this and that. In kindergarten I was beaten by my kindergarten teacher (I’ll always love you, Ms Ford) with an orange ruler for licking my finger and drawing on the floor with it while I was supposed to be napping. I passed time at church by drawing the choir members on our church bulletin every Sunday morning, evening and Wednesday nights. I dreamed of someday drawing for a living whether it be working in the French Quarter drawing for tourists, or creating my own series of comics. My parents were very supportive of my art, as long as I followed some rules and promised to pay attention in class and church. In fact, I was allowed to draw anything I wanted on my bedroom walls and doors, and so I often did—I created entire murals which I painted over as I got older and my interests changed.

Over the years my art has helped me in ways unimaginable to some. It’s been therapeutic, relaxing, a great motivator and it’s helped me pay some bills. In high school I was lucky enough to have the tutelage of someone I consider to be a modern master: Sharon Hardwick. With her inspirational guidance, discipline and persuasion I was able to enter and win many art contests, expand my artistic abilities and begin learning the digital side of art with our Macintosh computers. Because of Ms Hardwick, the Leesville High School Art Club was essentially an ad agency for local businesses by my senior year. This helped to give me a reputation as an artist that offered a way for me to earn some extra cash. I was able to sell enough art work to pay for a couple of semesters in college, and finally a two-year program at the Louisiana Art Institute where I studied graphic design.

Since graduation from LAI I’ve worked in the graphic arts field in several capacities. I’ve been a web designer, screen printer, electronic prepress operator, interactive designer and nowadays I’m working as a graphic artist for an advertsing agency. Most of my art these days has been either computer generated or finished on the computer. But that’s starting to change as I’ve been sharpening my trusty Prismacolors® and refilling my ink pens. In the past year or so I’ve been drawing portraits mostly for friends and family. With the launch of this website, I hope to offer my original art to anyone who’d like a portrait drawn. I can draw anything, really, but I enjoy drawing portraits, and everyone has a special picture they’d like to frame and hang. So if you’ve got a portrait you’d like drawn please see my prices and feel free to contact me! I can work from one particular picture or a collection of pictures. I can also assemble group shots, and change scenery, clothing, hairstyles, expressions, etc.

On this website you’ll find a small sample of some of the portraits I’ve drawn, as well as other examples of my art. I will be adding more as I have them scanned and as I create them.
